Sulimay's Restaurant

88/100

This Fishtown diner is the real thing: scrapple and hash browns that people actually remember, generous portions, fair prices, nostalgic atmosphere with genuine character. "Best hash browns I've ever had," someone said, and nobody argues. The cash-only policy is annoying but standard for the neighborhood, and there's an ATM on-site if you forget. One food quality incident a year ago (undercooked eggs and potatoes) suggests kitchen inconsistency, but recent the reception is clean. The exterior political murals turn some diners off, but that's a you-problem, not a food problem.

Honey's Sit 'n Eat

78/100

"Hell yeah!!!! This is my new favorite breakfast spot"—that's a direct quote, and it captures the vibe. Creative breakfast, generous portions, charming vintage ambiance, strong vegetarian options. Then: bugs showed up in salads twice. Not once. Twice. It's the kind of food safety incident that makes you want to trust the place (pests happen) and also never want to eat there again (pests happened twice). The 45-plus-minute weekend waits are real, and parking on that intersection is a nightmare, but if you can get past the pest history, the food quality is there.

Pro tip: Go midweek or early morning if you value timing over chaos. Check the salad twice, or just stick to hot items—bugs are less likely to hide in cooked food.
